Find strength: be strong like an Oak tree

When I was younger my parents owned a house and in the backyard of our house stood a very large and majestic Oak tree. My bedroom faced towards the backyard where the Oak tree stood. That Oak tree saved my life at one time and helped me to remind myself that as a person we need to be strong and powerful like this old Oak tree.

Before I even noticed this tree I was involved with my girlfriend so involved that nothing mattered but her. I was deep as any man could be. When you are young you think you know it all about life you think and believe in fantasies like you will be together forever! Spring love is special when you are young! Little did I know what was in store for me in the future. As time passed I began to notice that she began to started acting differently. She stopped calling me and even began to start not wanting to hang out with me.

I remember how hurt I was about her! I swear every time I think about it it makes me so angry for being so weak! I was such a push over as I was at her every whim! Talking about it again makes me angry!

Anyway the day came when I approached her and asked her why she was avoiding me? And of course like the majority of people she began to turn it around on me and called me “Weird” and that she never liked me in the first place. I became angry as she continued to insult me and all I did was stand there and say nothing. I said nothing because I actually thought that I should not because it would hurt her feelings! I have been so conditioned to be nice to people that unconsciously it would hamper what I really wanted to say! I know I was in it deep!

I came back to my house and into my bedroom to lick my wounds and repair my pride that she ripped to pieces. The days passed and I was extremely depressed and all I thought was “Why?”. Running scenarios through my brain so that I could come up with a reason but could not. I felt so low, so low that I did not even feel human! How could that person just destroy me like that with no care in the world! It was brutal.

Then that one day came for in a form of leaves rustling in the cool summer breeze. I never heard that sound before in my life! I turned and looked out my window towards the Oak tree. It felt…
